il progetto shinpu tokkotai e' nato dopo una lunga ricerca, da parte di tom porta stesso, sia in europa che in giappone.
il fascino esercitato sull'occidente dalla cultura e dagli oggetti giapponesi e' utilizzato dall'artista per creare un viaggio pittorico nel vero spirito kamikaze (shimpu e' il modo corretto/formale di leggere l'ideogramma "kamikaze"), utilizzando simboli come i fiori di ciliegio per incantare l'osservatore e condurlo in quel mondo.
oggigiorno e' pratica comune riferirsi agli attacchi suicidi nel medio oriente come attacchi kamikaze, utilizzando il termine impropriamente e dando a un fenomeno come il terrorismo un significato sbagliato che la parola non meriterebbe mai.
e questo e' cio' su cui si basa il progetto.
porta traccia la linea, spesso mancante nell'odierna comunicazione di massa, usando arte e bellezza per far riflettere gli osservatori sulla forza delle parole -ampiamente usate nei suoi dipinti- e fargli comprendere un nuovo modo per esprimere il desiderio di un mondo pacifico.
dovremmo chiedere che quello era cio' che lo spirito e la volonta' del kamikaze intendevano?
sara' meglio che lo facciamo, come porta ha scoperto, attraverso una profonda comprensione delle lettere e degli estremi auguri lasciati da giovani piloti.
nei dipinti di porta tutti gli elementi, passati e presenti, vengono mischiati per creare un punto di vista unico su questo argomento.
molte persone hanno contribuito, direttamente o indirettamente al progetto shinpu tokkotai: con il loro aiuto, le critiche, gli spunti che mi hanno dato posso oggi realizzare i dipinti di questo ciclo.
ma c'è una persona in particolare senza la quale tutto questo non sarebbe materialmente possibile. sto parlando della mia cara amica yuki goda.
devo a yuki libri inottenibili in occidente, traduzioni, contatti, infinite ore di discussione ed analisi, un supporto morale enorme e il feedback di una persona nata e cresciuta nel paese del sol levante.

the shinpu tokkotai project came to life after a long research, done by tom porta, in both europe and japan.
the fascination western countries have for japanese culture and objects is used by the artist to create a pictorial journey into the real kamikaze (shinpu is the correct/formal way of reading those kamikaze ideograms) spirit, using symbols like cherry flowers to enchant the viewer and lead him into that world.
today, it's standard practice to refer to suicide attacks in the middle east as kamikaze attacks, using the word improperly and giving a phenomenon like terrorisms a wrong appeal that the word would never deserve.
that’s what the artist’s project is all about.
porta draws that line, often missing in today’s mass communication, using art and beauty to make the viewers think about the power of words -widely used on his paintings- and understand a brand new way of expressing the desire for a peaceful world.
should we believe that was what the kamikaze spirit and will were meant for?
we’d better do, as porta found out, through a deep understanding of letters and farewell wishes left by young pilots.
in porta’s paintings, all the elements, past and present, mix together into creating a unique point of view on this matter.
